In 1965 it was destroyed by the waters of Tagliamento river and soon after rebuilt in Lignano. According to an old legend the "illustrious ghost" of Pope Gregorio XII still flutters in this church. In fact, the church had been a refuge for him, when he was persecuted by the militaries of the rebel feudal lords.
